A still life bouquet of beautiful magnolia blossoms displayed in a very nice arrangement. Watercolor on paper by Southern artist Eugene Arthur. Eugene Arthur was a local Georgia painter from the Atlanta area.
The precise lines and coloring of the flowers and foliage show the talent and attention to detail. The flower's colors are bright and vivid and not faded. The paper has no discolorations. The painting dates to the mid 20th Century. The original frame has the look seen from the 50's to the early 70's. The painting was mounted and framed by Mary Mobley - Picture Framing, Peachtree St., Atlanta, near the Margaret Mitchell House. She owned a well-known midtown frame shop and gallery and supplied prominent Atlanta families with artwork during that period.
Frame condition: The two tone green and gold frame is in Good overall condition with age related dings/rubs/scuffs to the edges and corners. It is still very presentable and would look nice hangng from any wall. Measurements: Frame - 20" x 24" (Moulding - 1 1/2"). Painting - 10 3/4" x 13 3/4".
